Quick answer
I think we can all agree Valheim's one of the best games out there, but even the greats have their flaws. So, I mentioned starting from almost nothing, and that's because I started off this journey by using some really cool mods by a mod developer named Jer. But if cheating isn’t for you, I have another solution with my 25 BEST quality of life mods for your next Valheim playthrough. I know this looks like Valheim, but it's not.
Fortunately, Valheim's modding community is one of the best in the business. With these mods, I made blueprints of and brought in every build that I had ever created on my YouTube channel into one large area. Have you ever wished that Valheim had more and bigger dungeons and maybe some more build pieces, too, so you can make an epic Viking castle? And today, I'm going to solve all your Valheim pain with 25 quality of lifeenhancing mods, which at this point I would absolutely die without.
In the alpha, I created the first road with advanced tools from Jerr's Mods, painting on quick textures to get things started. How about lots of NPCs that give you quests to complete? None of these mods drastically change the Valheim experience, but rather maybe smooth it out a little bit and add a sprinkle of spice. Or maybe you'd like to be able to swim and build underwater.
Mod basics
Inventory management is probably the most common pain point for Vikings. In that case, these reworked and enhanced biomes will be something that you'll love. Maybe the best use case, however, is to host multiple arrow types for the ultimate archer. What I'm showing you is called Crumpack, and I'm going to be streaming gameplay of it soon.
This way, you can easily toggle through them when in a fight. I'd also like to make it clear that I'm not being sponsored or paid in any way to make this video. Maybe a little easier for me if I didn't happen to have my ability to sit bound to the same X key. I just think it's an awesome Valheim mod pack, and I wanted to share it with you guys.
You can extend the extra breathing room to your storage area, too, with another from Azu in Azu container sizes. So, this is where you'll spawn into the world, guys. This one does exactly as you'd expect with configuration options to add rows or columns to any chest. And uh it's also where you're going to get your first quest from Odin, your father himself.
How to install
What I like about this one though is that it's not standardized across all chests, allowing you to configure each type as you see fit. So, shift E opens up the quest. And don't worry about going overboard as a scroll wheel will be integrated should you exceed a certain threshold. You can see there's a number of different quests here.
With auto store, materials can be tossed onto the ground, and after a few seconds, they'll be pulled into nearby chests that contain common material. And using the quest system in this game is basically going to be how you figure out how you progress through. The radius around the chest for which material is drawn can be increased or decreased to your liking, as can the highlighting behavior of the chest. and it's a really nice thing to have in the game cuz it adds a lot of content to it.
Alternatively, you can even add a keybind to autodeposit items opposed to dropping everything if you prefer. So, you'll find yourself doing all kinds of quests for all different NPCs. Once items are stored, you no longer need to have them on your person to craft. Also, just a cool little thing here.
Best mods
Crafty boxes will detect the contents of nearby chests and allow you to pull material from them directly at the crafting station. You can actually come under here and get your rested buff right from the start. And once again, this range is completely configurable to your liking. So, we can sit on the floor here.
The combination of these mods really modernizes Valheim for me. Um, just a random little tip that if you are going to play yourselves, this can be quite helpful. The fourth of the building mods covered today is a little more transformative than most in Infinity Hammer. So, obviously, there are links in the description for this.
Fifth, and easily my favorite of the build enhancing mods is plan build. You can get this pack at the moment on Patreon, but if you join the Discord, and I'll put a link to that as well, the Discord for this game. Fortunately, again, like most mods on this list, if you don't like a feature, you can simply turn it off. Uh, basically, you can apply and try to get the game for free as well.
Compatibility
A downside of this mod is it makes it a lot easier to accidentally make more than what you need, but that's why we have mods like recycle and reclaim. They have spent thousands of dollars in developing this game. Perhaps the most important quality of life enhancing mods on this list. So obviously they're trying to recoup some of that money and you know fund some future development of the game as well which is why it is on Patreon.
At this point, you might be a little overwhelmed with all the mods to manage, but that's where the official Beanex configuration manager is a lifesaver. It's a purchase game rather than something that's free. Rather than manage your mods in the managing software, install this mod for a simple overlay that you can pull up in game. Now I do want to say as well just for full disclosure that I did get access to this game for free.
As an example, I pulled up my set of mods and quickly added two new rows to my inventory with just a couple clicks without even having to leave my game. I haven't had to pay to get it. Um and I wanted to promote it today. I wanted to show it to you guys cuz I think if you like Valheim, there's a good chance you'd be really interested in playing this.
Tips
Uh but again, I'm not sponsored. I just wanted to kind of share it with you guys. Another important thing to mention is this is still a work in progress. So this is not like fully polished finished version.
This is just what they have released so far and obviously it is still under development. There is a lot going on with it. In terms of the development of this game, uh there are Valheim developers are aware of it. Hold on, I got myself stuck in here.
Yeah, they're aware of it and I think they're fine with it as far as I can tell. Uh one of the Valheim developers at least is in the Discord as well of this game. So yeah, there's more animals in this game as well. Um there's a there's a few different additions of course, but yeah, that's one of them.
