Quick answer
Welcome back to another episode of Before You Buy, the show where we give you some straight-up gameplay and our first impressions of the latest games releasing. With the release of the Mistellands update, you can now keep boar, wolves, locks, and chickens as your own tamed pets in Valheim. Hard to believe, but after a little more than half a decade, Valheim has finally left early access. Two weeks ago, I got the full update early and have spent every day since tearing it apart so I can show you everything.
Since the call to arms update parrying has been modified to completely forego stamina consumption making it even more powerful than it always was. Rather than be subjected to the random sorting of crafting stations, you can update the order by hitting F5 and inputting the sort craft name command to change the order to be alphabetical. With the full release, there are many more players joining, especially from other consoles. If you're just looking at the final 1.0 update in isolation, I could see somebody wondering why that justifies the price jump, but basically, we're talking about exiting the early access stage.
Pause once you've clipped in, and right-click to release the hook. This thing is extremely inaccurate unless you fully draw down on it before release. This is a new one but one you’ll need to keep yourself from leaving home without your favorite trinket with the new call to arms update. The reason we are doing this is because Steam updates reset the original so your custom settings stay safe in the copy.
Update basics
Grab the crew bow for the least stamina usage and a ton of wood arrows and stand basically touching twig and spam drawback and release. The first use case for the items found here are feasts, a brand new food type that augments the food system like the hearth and home update before it. The structures and dungeons and all of the stuff that you're going to find as part of the deep north update is much more likely to spawn there. And that's when the Valheim Ashlands update came out.
There is actually a lot of new build items and decorations and stuff in this update. This is just what they have released so far and obviously it is still under development. This seed is an exception where it occurs just south of the last biome and I fully expect it to survive the 1.0 update. Next is the newest rare location just added to Valheim in its most recent update.
With high health, resistance to pierce, and immunity to frost, he is the prime candidate for the job. Since the Hildir’s Request update, there is a new way to acquire eggs and grow your chicken farm. And hey, maybe some of these features will make it into Valheim's 1.0 release coming out next year. Notably, pre deep north update, silver is only used to craft one crafting station upgrade, the butcher's table for the cauldron.
Latest changes
The plains has 3 strong candidates for best weapon but I tend to lean into the blackmetal atgeir. But, pre-update, you were able to fix this kind of if you literally walk through the snow to stitch the two parts together again. Alternatively, they can spawn rarely at abandoned cottages and since the recent bog witch update, now spawn during the brand new ghosts raid which can occur following the defeat of bonemass.
This must have been tested prior to release. Join the 1% Club, get the Falcon Show exclusively every weekend. According to the developers, the game is considered feature complete with the addition of the Deep North, the final biome of the game. And while the Deep North is the obvious star in this update, they packed a ridiculous amount of content in the rest of Valheim 2, starting with our prayers finally being answered, bigger inventories.
Valheims latest updated added three brand new skills which are mega powerful at level 100! Valheim just dropped a 5-year anniversary update with some really fun new surprises like a new food item, build pieces, emotes, hairstyles, and even a nifty hat with some powerful stats. The all the updates over the course of early access, this is good. Any world created after the 1.0 update will guaranteed to have a chance of containing hooks inside the chest.
Release info
Inventory space comes at a premium and has only become a bigger source of player pain with each of the past two updates adding new items to carry. Next is swimming, which has become far easier to level with recent updates. Moreover, what elevates this update in my opinion, is that it is as forward looking as it is backward in adding feasts for early game biomes as well as late game. Now, ice is going to be a very useful material in the uh new update.
But, speaking of the first road to Ekthier, the last thing done in both final updates was updating this road a lot. So, it's a very it's quite a big update and it's a very exciting one to be honest. Lastly, though, it's always better to start a new seed when big updates drop. Added in the Call to Arms update, combat ruins can now be found in the meadows, but not close to spawn.
Be careful though, with all that liquid building up, this weakling is going to release his load as soon as you open the cage. And speaking of magic, the ashlands update introduced a hack that makes kilns completely obsolete. Updated ballista to make it accept all new trophies plus all the deep north enemies basically, the björn and the file. Believe it or not, when Valheim first released this trophy had only a 1% drop rate meaning you had to kill 100 on average to get it.
Patch notes
It's been a long road to get here, but you can now play Valheim from start to finish. Further, both the hammer and serving tray build menus have been changed drastically. Where this benefit truly shines is when using the new multi-craft functionality also added in this update. But by far the coolest thing added in this update is the early axes, an early less powerful version of the axes you find in the Ashlands.
So once again, to get the most out of the 1.0 update, you got to start from scratch. And the game now gives you a countdown timer by the way, new in the recent call to arms update. But, that’s not all that is new in farming, as you have just seen, this update introduced a brand new tool in the Scythe! And as I say, this is kind of the first dungeon you're going to want to do in the new update.
This is another new system that has been come to Valheim as part of this update. It might just be the seed you are looking for in preparation for this new update. While I can spawn the cape, hood, and me horn of Odin, even I cannot equip them having not played Valheim prior to its early access release. All the biggest changes, additions, and improvements to Valheim with the latest updates.
Tips
And with that file size almost quadrupling, uh the game's price has also risen from $19.99 to $29.99, which is a 50% price increase. Recipes are organized by category, material, recent builds, or ones you choose to add to your favorite list. The second and likely most emphasized skill in this update is the cooking skill. I'll quickly cover all the fun new stuff in this update and show you exactly how to get your hands on this new OP weapon, the early axis.
The 1.0 update isn't some massive game changer, but the new deep north biome is intriguing to explore and unlocks powerful new equipment. By equipping the full harvester armor set purchased from hildir you increase this skill by 25 and since the recent call to arms update you can get another +25 by triggering yagluths forsaken power. Apart from that, there are 6 other miscellaneous things included in this update I must not neglect. It is like no dungeon we have had in Valheim to date in terms of the sheer size of it.
I hadn't got to this stage of the update yet, but yes, they are going to be in the game, it seems. And with that, here's hoping to even more rare items coming in Valheim's 1.0 release, which I think is going to be the biggest gaming event of 2026. And before we get to the deep north, I think my absolute favorite part of this update is the full set of all biomes that can be found. Second, is related to the brand new scythe introduced in this update which can be crafted by combining the scythe handle purchased from the bog witch after the defeat of Moder with silver.
