Quick answer
Magic staffs can be crafted and use Valheim's version of mana called eitr to deal battle. The only thing holding back a spellcaster from destroying everything in its path is its reliance on eitr and triggering the earrings makes that 25% faster. You basically want to bring 10 Eitr wood, 10 refined Eitr mandibles, and also one hook to it. Stop holding down the interact button when placing resources into a refining station such as your kiln, furnace, or later windmills and eitr refineries.
While these buffs do not stack we will get the massive stamina regeneration from the Resting as well as the XP gain boost and later eitr regeneration from the rested buff. With this buff you will have increased healing, stamina regeneration and eitr regeneration and perhaps most importantly a hidden buff to your experience gain. Where the frost loses in range, it vastly makes up for it in cast speed, eitr cost and the incredible benefits of the slow effect it applies. Alternatively, if you happen to have refined eitr on hand already you can toss a few of them on the ground.
And third and fourth, pot eitr and oat seeds can only be found inside barrels at these specific storage huts, also containing the occasional weapon cast. Alternatively, once you have refined eitr you can drop a few of them near the ward and over time the projectiles will destroy it. And a tree variant absolutely littered with Eitr still roots, which I think is just gorgeous. But yeah, that's to craft the iter refinery.
Station basics
However, there's a catch as you can literally destroy your items entirely with the system. So countless eons ago, no more, we finally get a toggle in the settings menu that basically allows you to skip the intro cinematic. Yellow for stamina-focused foods, red health, blue eitr, and white for a balance. Like I said in the mistlands, the only thing holding spellcasters back is access to eitr and this trinket gives you an automatic refill each time you gain 70 adrenaline.
Alternatively, toss a handful of refined eitr next to the ward and over time the eitr projectiles will hit and and damage the ward eventually destroying it. Eitr can also do more than break wards and can be used as a weapon against bosses, at least as a supplementary damage source. Here is a list of all the possible foods we made with the usual mix of stamina, health, and eitr focus meals. So before you do that, here is everything you want to know about the forge of potential from locating it on your world and how exactly it works to my tips on best using it.
Don't get me wrong, I think it's a beautiful cinematic but after you've seen it once, you've basically seen it, right? The Queen increases Eitr regen, removes stick stamina cost, and adds resistance to poison. Magic is the easiest way to gain adrenaline, it’s the most powerful combat style, and its only hindered by eitr regeneration which this trinket boosts massively, how could it be anything else? This buff will give you increased health, stamina, and eitr regeneration and even a hidden benefit of increased XP gain.
How to build it
Often used by speedrunners, if you have some eitr handy, break its stack into individual items in your inventory before summing a boss like yagluth. Also guys, we were able to secure the full protector set. And this one came as a big surprise but my absolute favorite feature they decided to finally add after all those years is the alternative dodge roll. As the light gathers to where yag will ultimately spawn toss each of your refined eitr balls on the ground.
Every single end game armor set in the past couple days for which I already made a ultimate guide you can find in the top right of the screen. So instead of press and holding your right mouse to then space bar for roll, you can finally bind one button on your mouse or wherever you like to do the exact same thing. All the while the periodic eitr projectiles will hit the boss and deal damage. Especially the heavily sought after protector set is something that many people want to get their hands on.
They also added accessibility settings to be able to toggle blocking. Similarly, this is a common strategy used against the Queen where you can drop all kinds of eitr outside the porch of the queens arena while exploiting them with the hammer like discussed previously. This guide has it all to make that nice and easy for you. I don't think this is going to be interesting for most play styles.
Upgrades and requirements
Anyways, the forge of potential, a literal altar of the gods that makes upgrading your equipment a whole lot more interesting. Well, if you're always a shield wall in front of your crew, then it could be handy. First though, you're going to have to find it which is not that difficult if you know where to search. I'm sure the gear collectors for specifically the end game will absolutely love this as it's now going to become a whole lot easier to specifically get your hands on the protector set.
If we quickly zoom in on our spawn, this is basically where we were able to find the trader Hildur and also the witch. These armors used to only drop from a specific target, the Kriegan with double axes, which were pretty difficult to come across. If we visited this mountains biome during that time, it could have very well pop up right here. Now all the Kriegan have an equal chance of dropping both set molds, protector and vanguard.
Simply sail from one island to the next if it has a mountains biome, it can already pop up on the map. Personally, I think this wasn't really necessary as we were able to find two full sets almost within one hour on a Yoten evasion while I saw many people really struggle with this. So keep your eyes open for this icon. They literally completed every single Mordecala in their world, also took care of many invasions and couldn't get their hands on any piece.
Best practices
I think from 500 m away. So, I guess this is great news for the majority of people because right now it's a little bit easier to get your hands on. Once you found it, I very much recommend you to slap down a portal so you have very quick access to it. They didn't mention anything about increasing the drop chances.
If you get lucky, it will pop up at a truly epic location. And this kind of makes me wonder if they're going to change things for the forge of potential soon as well. For us, it was at the peak of this mountain, I'd say a legendary site. The RNG gambling machine that has a potential to make beautiful items or break them entirely.
If you interact with it, you get to upgrade all the equipment you have with you. I made a video about that earlier which you can find in the top right of the screen. For all the weapons and tools, you're going to need battle idols. But yeah, I think that one is still super unbalanced or not fun to play with in general.
Tips
In this case, for the Frostfire Axe, a black metal battle idol found in the end game zones. And it feels downright bad, not fun at all as mechanic to basically lose it all. For the Thunder Blood Crossbow, a blood gold battle idol. Share your opinion about this in the comments down below, but personally I think the forge of potential has so much more potential if you look at enchantment options in Valheim.
Well, for all the armor, you're going to need protection idols. I mean, imagine being able to find different types of idols that can basically add specific enchantments to both your weapons and armor. The tools specifically, you're going to need the wooden ones. An idol of fire aspect or something like that.
So, you might be thinking, where exactly can I get my hands on these idols? So, you can guarantee it adds an fire enchantment to your weapon. Both the protection and battle idols. Or maybe an idol of upgrading that always upgrades your items to a higher level.
