Quick answer
Bore can be found in the meadows, wolves in the mountains, locks in the plains, and chickens can be found in, you guessed it, eggs. Wood idols are used for meadows tier gear, black metal for plains, you get the idea. You can also encounter this alt biome type in the Plains. If anything, me wearing this root chest actually makes it safer for me to be in the plains than it does in the mountains at this point.
Valheim and castles are a perfect match. Title: Valheim 1.0 Deep North Full Guide! The plains now have tar pits with blob-like growths, which can be drained for a new tar resource. Every time you pick something new that's worthwhile, such as food or whatever, it just explains it for you.
Entering the grassy plains gives us another two interesting options in the mobility driving evasion mantle and bruising, clubs supporting bracelets of the brave. Well, we're going to keep it going with the mid-game biomes: swamp, mountains, and plains. This really shows its strength in future biomes like the plains for instance allowing you to pick a part a fuling camp with surgical precision. They come in four distinct variants and can be encountered on the coast of the Black Forest, swamp, or plains.
Biome basics
Now, if you thought bears were scary, their unborn alternative in the plains, the vial, is perhaps even more scary and gruesome. While this is more commonly known, the ability to unlock an impenetrable base via the chair is also possible in the plains. Now, there is an item that you get from the plains biome as you progress into the game. Charging into the plains there will be 9 to find, quickly encountering the first in the infamous deathsquito and its 5% of the time dropping trophy.
The grasslands plains, perhaps my favorite biome weirdly offers a mere 5 different choices with the return of the worst weapon class taking the bottom spot in the blackmetal axe. What are you guys doing over there in the in the plains? This also allows you to enter giant rocks like those found in the plains. Yet, my preferred method for gathering stone are the giant pillars in the plains.
I thought I'd go with a more symmetrical design for the plains castle, seeing as it would need to be defensible from all approaches. There is an entire plains this way. And the 7th craftable new mead will surely make the plains adventurers rejoice in the Anti-Sting Concoction which when consumed makes deathsquitos unable to sting you allowing you to roam freely without fear. The plains and the ashlands replace underground layers with large complex outdoor structures, which even further helps to keep things feeling unique.
Where to find it
The Plains allows us to return to the best weapon class with the blackmetal atgeir. She also drops 10 dragon tiers used to build the artisan table, which unlocks the resources needed to craft black metal tier equipment in the next biome, the plains. Even some of the game's creatures change their look with the season, like the Mistland's hair and plains locks. This concept works great in the plains and mistlands too where you’re more than likely rocking the root harnesk or feather cape that both make you week to fire.
This was probably quite difficult, but the next biome, the Ashen Lands, will be much more difficult. You could encounter this variant in either the plains or misslands, as well. Most of the stuff in the plains is pretty squishy. That is why today I am building castles for all seven Valheim biomes currently in the game.
Before you go to the deep north biome, there are a few obvious things that you're going to want to take with you. Three new battleaxes have been added in the crystal, black metal, and skull splitter in the mountains, plains, and Mistlands biomes, respectively. The snail shell is actually unlocked in black forest and doable in all the biomes, except ocean, but I find it really shines in plains, mistlands, and ashlands. The plains has 3 strong candidates for best weapon but I tend to lean into the blackmetal atgeir.
Resources and enemies
Yagluth, for instance, is harder to find simply because unlike preceding biomes, the plains doesn't have any dungeon instances where the Veggrair can be found. So, again, I've given myself some armor and stuff that would be relevant to the plains biome. Similar to what we did with the crypt, we can place a chair at the edge of a giant plains boulder and like before, when we sit we will enter the hollow insides of the rock. So you got obviously the plains will only grow um your flax and barley.
But alas, the blackmetal atgeir usurps it as the best in the biome as the plains is maybe best known by the swarming green fuling. The ram can be used to bash any resource node like giant stone in the plains or simply copper in the black forest. Now, we'll go to the plains for a pretty slick tar farm. I'll call this one Volcer Keep, roughly translating into Shield of the Plains in Old Norse.
Almost looks like a plains um at first when you see it. In the case of the plains it allows us to handle the horde of fuling with its spinning attack. In today's video, I'll try to simplify them a bit so you can navigate this biome without tearing your hair out and hopefully dying every 3 seconds like I did. And before we get into the plains, I want to share with you how you can search for these alt biomes yourselves, as long as you're fine using dev commands.
Progression route
Yeah, by the way, the flame fuling this is this is the major threat on the plains for you. We're talking fresh designs, new ideas, and months of building and planning, all compressed into one video for your enjoyment. So, we can talk about taking your good weapons, armor, food, mess, all of that sort of stuff. You can now make sweet bread, a delicious sweet treat in the plains.
Sixth, and most rarely on a per chest spawn rate basis, is the wooden ageear in plains chests found in fueling villages and within sealed towers. In both the swamp and plains, damage over time will be a threat in the form of poison or fire. One of the best foods we're going to want requires fish, which means before heading too far into the plains, we're going to go. This thing is a joy to use and I have next to no complains, it just so happens the mistlands has many powerful weapons to choose from.
Now, even though I don't have the headpiece to this suit, having a Gitly suit in the plains is actually so awesome. (00:22) So let's get to the point. The plains has six variations, starting at 750 m with another menhir like we saw in the meadows, but in my experience it tends to be more widespread when occurring in the plains. I have a iron shield that I upgraded once and I have pretty garbage tier food to be pushing the plains and we're going to go fight this Lox.
Tips
I'll take you through my process behind each project, but you got to promise you'll comment your favorite build down below. However, 1.0 has also added in a few new things before we even get to the deep north biome, and you might miss them. Riding was added as a mechanic where you build saddles and can be placed on creatures starting with the plains lox and expanded on in later biomes. Diving into the plains you will likely encounter the muck infested tar pits.
By the time you reach the plains, you should be producing significantly better food. I guess like this wouldn't work, but like, you know, if you were like resting in the grass, like I'm curious in the plains how hidden you would actually be like this. To begin with, the first thing you need to do to get to the Ashlands is build a Drakkar that can pass through hot water and safely get you to the Ashlands. At 1,000 m, you can find death plains.
Out here in the wild in the plains, we see the gentle lox fighting the fearsome bear. As always, this build file will be made available for download on the Smitty Survival Patreon page. They're kind of easy to miss. Due to its ingredients and needing to be baked, the frosted sweet is a plains level hybrid food providing 43 HP and stamp with four healing a tick, which is pretty good.
