Quick answer

Once interacting with the witch you will find a vast list of new ingredients enabling new recipes and useful items available for gold. Recipes are organized by category, material, recent builds, or ones you choose to add to your favorite list. (01:38) This will open up a bunch of new recipes for crafting. You'll have to build around it to increase its level and unlock further recipes like the workbench and forge before it.

So, what you want to do is start with a nice big flat bit of land and dig a moat around it with a pickaxe. When opening your crafting menu you will notice all recipes are now available to you and you can now build any item or place any structure free of cost. This means that leveling up mostly involves finding new ingredients and learning new recipes to ensure you're always as wellfed as you can be. You can see all the recipes unlocking here for all the new Nourd gear.

As you pick up a new item for the first time, new recipes are unlocked. Upon death, drakes drop a freeze gland used to make ice cream, a great stamina food, and used in a few weapon recipes. It adds filters to menus, enables crafting of multiple items, and even allows you to favorite your most used recipes. Wraiths are the only renewable source of chains which are used in some crafting recipes.

Food basics

So, blubber can be cooked and is used in some of the food recipes, the new ones. And of course, these are used in certain recipes which we're going to go over. Search chests in ruins as unlike the black forest and swamp, onion seeds are found within chests and unlock much improved food recipes which will be critical for overcoming this biome. As you progress the biome and unlock recipes for the new staves, I would personally recommend the Staff of the Wild.

While I was quite surprised by having to go across planes to find bone mass, that's okay because honestly, I'll be able to grab some cloudberries, and we'll see if we get any new recipes there. Trinkets are Valheims newest equipable tool that provide massive boosts to your viking but you you’re going to have plenty of options on your journey. With the release of the Mistellands update, you can now keep boar, wolves, locks, and chickens as your own tamed pets in Valheim. In short, the cauldron received significant rework with food recipes now being split between it and two new cooking stations in the food preparation table, and mead kitill.

By breaking the debris found in the dungeon, you'll find any one of the 19 weapon molds, and this will be your primary pathway for unlocking weapon recipes in the Deep North. They open you up to new cooking recipes and are a pretty good source of food. Mead recipes have been moved from the cauldron to the kettle and unbaked recipes and fishing baits to the prep table. These berries grow wild throughout the deep north and will be used in several new recipes.

How to get it

It really wasn't much work to find so many different recipes for all the weapons. I suggest trying to find onion seeds as fast as you can because onions are used in recipes to craft some powerful foods like onion soup only requiring three onions and providing a whopping 60 stamina. These provide turnup seeds, which are needed to grow turnipss used in some new recipes. So uh that's unlocked all of these recipes for us.

And we are unlocking some new recipes and things. Just see what recipes we get. Today I’ll breakdown which trinket I think is best in each of Valheims biomes and give my objectively correct ranking of each of the games 13 trinkets from Worst to Best. Well, step one is to find one out in the wild.

Going forward, uncooked food recipes will be found at the table, cooked foods at the cauldron, and mead bases at the kitill, including, the new potions covered shortly. The oat seeds in particular, like barley before them, must be ground up at a windmill for flour before unlocking all kinds of the Deep North food recipes. You'll probably want to destroy a few of them , as they'll drop charred bones, which will also be important for many crafting recipes. Boar, deer, and wolf used to all drop the same generic raw meat, but now have their own drops in boar, deer, and wolf respectively with their own food recipes.

Recipes and farming

These can be collected and used in crafting recipes like making crystal walls that make for great windows or the amazing looking crystal battle axe. and that's used in a number of different new food recipes that came with Deep North. The Black forest is where you’ll find your first trinkets in the Heart of the Forest and Bronze Pendant. Bore can be found in the meadows, wolves in the mountains, locks in the plains, and chickens can be found in, you guessed it, eggs.

Finding this ingredient will unlock most of the recipes you'll need to progress, including most of the weapons. (03:34) Another very important resource that you will need to unlock many new crafting recipes is Ashwin's hide, and Ashwin's hides will look like the lizards you will see everywhere. So, if you go to your black forge and we open that up, then there's a number of new crafting recipes that we can do from here. For me its an easy choice.

Bore, wolves, and locks need to be tamed from wild animals. They will drop something called Prosite Powder, which you will also need for some crafting recipes, as well as charcoal, which you can get from some nearby trees. So, that is how you get these two things in the game and unlock the new recipes for them. Stamina is king in Valheim for your survival, whether you’re running from an attack, blocking, or parrying.

Best food choices

To start any build the absolute first thing you should be doing is leveling and clearing a large plot of land with your pickaxe and hoe. There are some really good cooking recipes that they unlock, so be sure to try to collect them when you see them. Oh, and that unlocked a load of new um crafting recipes for us there as well. You don’t need healing if you never get hit.

Now, one of the great food recipes that you can use, and which will be unlocked in the Ashes region, is Pecan Pie. And you see there are a load of new recipes that that unlocks. For that reason, always go with the Bronze Pendant, although, you will need to get the elusive bear trophy to craft it. (14:11) So I'll just make sure you use some of these new cooking recipes, because this region is going to be pretty deadly again.

Moving onto the swamp you’ll have the choice between the armor and health regen providing iron brooch and the speedy, nimble anklet. This is a tougher decision than the previous biome but to satisfy my unquenchable thirst for speed its got to be the anklet. Considering the stamina draining rain debuff of the biome, speed and stamina gain will be our saviour. Not to mention, its requires 5 less stamina to proc compared to the brooch.

Tips

Climbing into the mountains the choice becomes far more difficult revealing two of what I think are the best trinkets the game offers as you’ll find out in my overall rankings later. Whether you choose the pierce enhancing wolf sight or bonemass light crystal heart, you can’t go wrong. The crystal heart is basically just bonemasses forsaken power in your pocket offering a flat 25% reduction in all physical damage which can come quite handy in a pickle. The downside of course is the rather massive 80 adrenaline it requires to trigger.

In my opinion, this one is just strong. The skill increase alone is going to increase your damage output considerably with both weapon classes, reduce stamina usage, and in the case of bows also lower draw time further increasing damage output. All this in a biome where you’re probably going to want to keep your distance from wolf and drake alike, bows and spears might be your best option, so I choose the wolf sight. Entering the grassy plains gives us another two interesting options in the mobility driving evasion mantle and bruising, clubs supporting bracelets of the brave.

The mantle on the other hand is right up my alley, specifically for the parry bonus of 50%. Since the call to arms update parrying has been modified to completely forego stamina consumption making it even more powerful than it always was. That combined with the fact that parrying is one of the best ways to build adrenaline in the first place, its gotta be the choice. Oh and did I mention its got a 2 minute duration?
