The first thing you want to do is build a small sheltered hut with a fire nearby as key to leveling your skills is optimizing for stamina regeneration. This doesn't require cheats, and once done, will display the nearest dungeon to you and the distance in meters from its location.

To enable cheats on steam, navigate to your game library, cycle to valheim, right click on it and hit properties.

Command basics
Most weapons in valheim perform combos of 3 attacks with the third dealing twice the base damage. Make sure you eat three of the max stamina foods you have available and consider lingering stamina tasty meads and equipping the bronze pendant to maximize stamina regeneration. In this video, I’m going to take advantage of gaming mechanics and glitches to do things….maybe not intended by the developers, like turning wood stacks into coal, skipping bosses by using… a chair? By animation cancelling you can expand the combo to 4 adding an additional double dealing attack in roughly the same amount of time. Each hit will give you 1.5 XP per hit for all melee types with spears being the exception leveling faster with 2.25 experience per strike. And Firstly, by hiring a troll to do my dirty work! The next set of cheats to cover are those allowing changes in weather, time, the trigger events, and exploration of the map.
The first of two ways to execute this is to block cancel. As your weapon breaks, turn to the bench and repair or when your rested buff expires, leave the room, replenish the buff and get back to work. How to use commands
In the late game, you can take the strategy further by wearing the full ask armor paired with the Berserker meads. While this is true, trolls provide an alternative approach. If don’t perfectly you will initiate another 3 attack combo with two of those attacks dealing double damage. By combining the meads 80% reduction in attack stamina usage with the 20% reduction from the set bonus, you can attack free of stamina.
Instead, get their attention and lure them to a finewood providing tree and dodge their attacks. The timing for this isn’t very forgiving so you’re best bet is to dive into the game and practice until you have a good feel for it. The meads have no cool down either and can be continuously popped if you have the materials. If lucky, they will make contact, breaking the tree, rewarding you with its riches.
Alternatively, you can do the same but instead of holding block, sneak instead. Here is a summary of all the melee skills, the benefit of having them at max level, and the experience you gain per hit. Similarly, use them to smash tin and copper veins if you have yet to craft a pickaxe. These methods will work best with swords and maces and just cover the basics for animation cancelling in valhiem.
Most useful commands
Since you're so close, you can't miss your target getting 1.5 experience per arrow while minimizing drawback time and stamina use. Further, later game creatures like abominations will also be available for hire. Another underappreciated damage dealer is fire, most certainly the most unintended powerful weapon in Valheim; whether you’re fighting a boss or a common enemy. You can also consider wearing the root set and wolf site trinket to buff your bow skill to help move things along.
Dodge their attacks to knock down ancient trees and be rewarded with ancient bark otherwise locked, once again, behind a bronze axe. Fire is one of the rare damage types that can stack and grows exponentially if you can keep a foe within in. Crossbows will be leveled the exact same way, but replace the workbench with a black forge for repairs on your arbalest. Of course, before getting to the black forest you will need deer hide and meat for armor and sustenance.
Dodge roll in place to keep them in the fire picking up additional ticks of burning increasing the endured damage. Ensure you exploit their silly AI to save you the suffering of having to use the inaccurate crude bow. This will allow you to dodge while using your hammer so that you can repair the fire as it burns and maintain your ability to dodge. Deer are not the smartest creatures and with your hammer equipped sprint at them and place a cooking station to impede their progress.
Cheats and trainers
The hoe itself makes for some of the best cheats in the game that all include functionality above what was probably intended by the developers. Quickly switch to your weapon and take them down. With 5 of their trophies gathered, craft the stagbreaker to take advantage of the 3 applications of the area of effect damage done by two-handed hammers. First, the meadows is rich with treasure, especially in viking graves identified by rock formations in the shapes of a ship.
The secondary attack of a hammer will damage the treasure chest beneath the surface. After a few smashes, the chest will break and its loot will rise to the surface relieving you of the need to craft the antler pickaxe. Second, two handed hammers can be used to skip bonemass altogether and allow you progress into the mountains. Instead of using the wishbone to locate silver, march around the snowy biome and smash the ground.
Pay attention for the text ‘too hard’. This is your signal to dig, revealing the silver node. Third, the damage inflicted by their slamming attack does damage through walls. Use the stagbreaker in burial chambers to clear out skeletons or iron sledge in sunken crypts through muddy scrap piles.
Tips
While inside dungeons, don’t sleep on the structures you can build. Cooking stations, wood piles, and campfires can all be built without a workbench and can impede enemy progress. Block a choke point, stand back and use range to defeat your enemies. Of course, when you inevitably step on your campfire or brush up against a bonfire you will become familiar with how much damage they can deal.
If done with precision, they will walk straight into them and be set ablaze. Like with the campfire, bonfires can be placed and lit near larger creatures like loxen and abominatons for extra damage to supplement your weapon of choice. Fire sources are a key ingredient in gamebreaking boss fight strategies as you will see throughout the video. Speaking of boss fights, speed is critical to your survival in these fights and therefore you must capitalize on the fact the hammer does not have a sheath animation.
Normally, when withdrawing a weapon a your character is forced to pause their sprint briefly with the hammer being the exception. Rather than sheath your weapon, switch to your hammer and sheath it to get back to sprinting as quickly as you can. As you make your way to the swamp you will surely encounter an Abomination. To best them easily, learn to manipulate their low hitboxes.
